Outlook 2016 search that searches only file attachments

How can I perform a search of all emails within Outlook 2016 that will search only within email file attachments and will not search (or will ignore) any matches that occur within the body of emails?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Knowledgeable,

This can't be done in Outlook itself.

You may need to look for a plugin to achieve a search like that, but I've never seen one to do that.

I hope that's helpful.

Andrew is correct. The index for Outlook is the Windows (10) index and is completely integrated, so the search will not constrain itself to a particular element.

What you can do is go the Search bar in Outlook and type

attachment:Fordly

This will find all the attachments with Fordly in them.

It is not automatic and you need to use the way shown above but it does work.

Won't that just find attachments with "Fordly" in the 'name' of the attachment? I believe the author wants to search for the word "inside" the attachments.
search only within email file attachments
I still say it can't be done :)
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
The method will find words within the attachment content. I tried it here and the method works fine.

I just replicated a test just now for a less common word and it found the word in the document that was included in the email.

I cannot confirm that, John (Outlook 2016 on W10 with Exchange). If i try  only attachment file names are found. Using an unrestricted search finds content in PDFs, though.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
You need attachment:Fordly  with no spaces for the procedure to work. But I have confirmed here on both my computers that it does work.
IT GuyNetwork EngineerAuthor Commented:
Alright, I will test that as soon as I have the chance.
