Compatibility Mode for device driver

I have a X-Rite DPT41B Spectrophotometer. I use it for color profiling on Wideformat printing. My RIP has been on a MS Vista PC, upgraded recently to Windows 10. The driver doesn't work on the Windows 10 machine. I've heard of compatibility mode in windows. Is there a way to get Windows 10 to use an older driver using that mode?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can only try. Applications use compatibility mode. Drivers usually either work or not.

You can build a Vista virtual machine and see if you can run the device that way.
