Adding additional email address in profile

Keep getting the error,  the account already exists in this profile and cannot be added again.  However, I have went into the registry and deleted any mention of this account and still get the same error.  We are using Exchange 2010 with Hosting Controller 10.0.  Local PC is using Office 2016 32-bit.
