Is there a Windows Media Creation tool to create a Windows 10 installer USB stick which includes 1709 Fall Creators update?

I notice that the 1709 (Fall Creators) update of Windows 10 takes a lot of time to complete. Especially when installing a new system which seeks for updates during install and (if agreed) finishes the install with this 1709 update.

Is there a Windows Media Creation tool to create a Windows 10 installer stick which includes 1709?

You can make the ISO from this link and it will be V1709.  There may be some latest updates to do when done below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use the first section - Make for another PC.

Please note that in about two weeks, the next major release 1803 will be released and available through the same media creation tool. It was released to the fast ring insiders already.

Are updates always directly applied in the Media Creation tool as well (at the time of official release to end customers)

Media Creation tool is usually a couple of weeks behind very current product. That is why I said above you would have some latest updates to apply. This is entirely normal and that is how it has worked up to now for a couple of years.

They are changing what it downloads the day it goes RTM, as far as I remember.

Ok, but is there some kind of list which shows applied updates. More specifically: is Fall Creators included currently?

I have done a few rebuilds with 1709 and there has always been more updates to do

The Fall Creators update is current, I have done this and two or three updates to do. But today, the MCL is the Fall Creator Update V1709

Hi John,

what is MCL? I understand that there are always more updates to apply, certainly over time when the USB installed medium gets older. The Fall Creators update is so huge that I need it to be included in my first fresh install, only to apply a few small updates after the initial install.

" I understand that there are always more updates to apply, certainly over time when the USB installed medium gets older" - and that is wrong, fortunately. The number stays the same - one cumulative update for windows, and one for flash and maybe a third one and of course updates for office. The cumulative updates only get bigger in size, but not in number. No, nothing you can do wrong with using the media creation tool.

Sorry MCL is the Media Creation Link

Mcknife: if I understand correctly: I cannot create a USB device with the default Media Creation tool which includes Fall Creators update?

You should be able to use the option to make an ISO for a different computer

Agrippa, once again: That tool downloads an ISO and as of today, it is the fall creator's update (it does not include it, it IS IT). That is a whole OS setup, the latest that you can get. In less than 14 days (April 10th, presumably), the media creation tool will download the spring creator's update.

Currently the Media Creation tool is making 1709 iso or USB sticks.  Just like Mcknife stated very soon it will be upgraded to 1803.    If you get errors on creating your USB media.  Be sure to remove all the partitions and format the stick as simple volume ntfs.  I have had issues with exfat volumes erroring out..:-(

I suppose the version numbers are more informative now (temporal reference YYMM) as before Microsoft would just call the major rollups in earlier windows by its Service Pack (SP) sequence number. For example, discs had the SP number on them like Windows XP Home SP2 OEM disc. Now it is common to install an OS from a flash drive.

So the Media Creation tool essentially gives you the ability to install Windows 10.1709 and soon to be Windows 10.1803
