Does PCI-e adapter for SM951 SSD work with other M.2 SSDs?

I'm looking to buy an Intel M.2 1TB ssd and pair it up with this adapter:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adapter-Card-to-PCI-E-x4-Power-off-protection-half-Height-Bracket-for-SM951-SSD/222039068163?hash=item33b28f4e03:g:wIIAAOSwWTRW1WI5

But the adapter says it's for SM951 SSD.
Will it still work with other M.2 SSDs or does it have some kind of special support for that drive only?
The adapter has power-off protection and I suspect it will be tailored to a certain SSD type because of that?

When I look up SM951 SSD it appears to be a type of Samsung SSD.

Adapter card support socket 3 (GEN 3 PCIe X4 or NVME) M key M.2 NGFF SSD and socket 2 (GEN 2 PCIe X2) B+M key M.2 NGFF SSD SSD to PCIe X4 slot

So it will work.

As if you want to use it for disk to boot from, check the motherboard to support, not all motherboards support start function..

Well, there's a list of cards that it officially supports in the listing.   For anything else, it would be prudent to contact the seller and ask.

Normally I would say "If one works, anything should work" but when they specifically list things it will work with, then generality goes out the door.
