VPN Client Software

Just bought a new Windows 10 laptop and need to install some VPN client software on it so that I can connect to my clients' networks. I have the products installed on my old laptop but don't have any installation media for them. I'm also not able to download the clients from the web or what I have downloaded isn't installing correctly. The products that I need are as follows:

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client (version 4.5.04029)
NetExtender Windows Client (MSI) ... version 7.0.196

Does anyone know where I might get these? I can probably get them from my clients who will host these connections but it would be much easier to just download them from somewhere.

Usually the first time that you attempt to connect to the SSL web VPN portal you are presented with the option to download Netextender, I believe it is the same with the CISCO product.

If you cannot get the older versions, NCP Secure Entry (www.ncp-e.com) works great Vista through Windows 10 on Cisco and Juniper VPN boxes.

The Cisco VPN client works well on Windows.

you can download netextender from the SonicWALL portal : https://www.sonicwall.com/en-us/support/knowledge-base/170503561905844

You can download Cisco AnyConnect from : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/security/anyconnect-secure-mobility-client/tsd-products-support-series-home.html
Note: Requires valid Cisco service contract.

ITGuy565 ....

I'm not sure what I need to download from that cisco site. The download page presents about 15 different choices and none of them jump out as the one that I should select.

Would you be able to tell me which one?

When I downloaded, installed, and started NetExtender, a message popped up informing me that a damaged version was detected and that I need to reinstall to fix it.

I did do the reinstall but it did not work. I get the same "damaged version" message.

Any ideas on that?

I would delete the application, run a reg clean on the system and reboot and attempt a reinstall of the product. I believe you may have some residual items in the registry preventing the install.

I've never done that before. How do you run a reg clean? And should I back something up first?

You would need a registry cleaner like CC Cleaner or Glary Utilities or JV Power Tools, but go very carefully and look at all items the app wishes to delete.

Hi cbridgman,

The file can easily be corrupted during download. After you download it make sure the hash matches using a hash utility like HashTab (http://implbits.com/products/hashtab/). You may have to try multiple times.

Regarding downloading NetExtender...you should not need to but rather it will download & install automatically once you login to the Virtual Office site.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I am going to close this question. I purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 pre-loaded on it and discovered, unfortunately, that Windows 10 is not compatible with a number of things that I need to do. My plan now is to wipe Windows 10 from it and replace it with Windows 7. Thanks to all of you for offering all of the advice up to this point.

Having said that, I am not quite sure if I should be awarding points to anyone or if I should just close the question without a solution. Would you let me know what I should do?

Thx

Even though you changed your position on moving forward with Windows 10, Your original question was as follows.

I would close the quest with the intention of awarding the points to whoever you feel answered the basic question the best. Or just split the points among everyone.  Really tough it is your call.

I agree with ITguy656, you had a question that has been answered so it will benefit other users to award and keep it. Plus we all work pro bono, so we should be rewarded for our time spent working on your problem. I'd recommend awarding points. ITguy656 was the first expert to provide the actual answer to your question. Others added to it.
