issue with aircap 3602i

i had question req Cisco air cap 3602i. can i use this as standalone access point .or is that mandatory i should connect trough Wireless controller . if yes  i have tried connected with the
connecting but in putty its not showing anything..totally blank screen .am using POE adapter. i have connected console cable to my system with usb converter .and another patch cable to the AP port on power adapter. hope  this the right way..and in device manager it is showing com 4 . and i have changed to com 4 in putty..but still its showing their anything i have to do. and any other way i can config.. please suggest

You can use standalone but you need to install an autonomous version of code.
