IBM IMM Unresponsive
I have an IBM IMM that has gone unresponsive in the aspect of SNMP and remote access. Ping is fine however the web GUI no longer loads and the SNMP service has stopped. I can CLI to the command line however issuing the resetsp command goes nowhere and using ASU hangs after connecting.

CLI:

system>resetsp
Submitting reset request..

ASU:

c:\IBM-ASU>asu64.exe rebootimm --user admin --password xxxx
IBM Advanced Settings Utility version 9.63.86D
Licensed Materials - Property of IBM

Connect to imm to reboot.
Successfully discovered the IMM via SLP.
Discovered IMM at IP address 169.254.95.118
Connected to IMM at IP address 169.254.95.118

It appears I am unable to initiate a reboot without going to site at this stage and physically removing power. Has anyone seen this before? Randomly stopped around this time yesterday and was working fine up until this point.

How come it's got an APIPA address?

ASKER

That is the standard address issued internally from the IMM to the OS. I assume LAN over USB. Seen it with all IMMs that I come across. On the IMM's LAN side there is a routable address. The APIPA address only exists between IMM and the OS.

Update on this: Physical attendance was needed to remove the AC mains from the server to 'clear' this. IMM has come back up after doing this.

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
