SBS 2008 server not booting

I have an SBS 2008 Dell server that will not boot up. I get to the screen to boot normally, safe mode or last known good. Each one continues to boot then the mouse cursor shows and then the server reboots. It is in a loop.

I went to safe mode with command prompt and ran chkdsk /R but that did not fix it

Server is Dell T610 with RAID 5.

What can I do to get this server back up

At the command prompt where you ran CHKDSK, try running SFC /SCANNOW.  This takes a while, then close out and try restarting again.

The second time if you must restart in Safe Mode, are you able to restore to a prior point?

Wen I run sfc /scannow it comes back with
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete."
Same thing happens after I reboot and try to run it
There is not another fix command that I know of for Server 2008. It will not run DISM so far as I know. In any event, if SFC won't run, neither will DISM.

Do you have the Server 2008 Install DVD?  Can you run a Repair by starting with this DVD?

You should make sure you have a current back up in the event you need to reinstall the server.

If you are trying to run sfc /scannow and you may receive the following error message:

“There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again.”

Here is how to resolve the error and get sfc /scannow to run again.
Step 1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt

You can try to run this from an elevated command prompt either in normal or safe mode but if required you may need to run it from the Windows Recovery Console.
Step 2. Run the following command

dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
Step 3. Run sfc /scannow again

Restart the computer and type in the following again from an elevated command prompt

sfc /scannow

Sounds like a bad patch.
I am able to run scf /scannnow /offbootdir =c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows. It says it fixed files however I still can't boot up.

DISM is not on server 2008.

I ran bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /rebuildcd.  Still stuck at the same place

The only way I can get to a command prompt is booting of the SBS 2008 DVD so I can't run anything at an elevated prompt.
The only way .... is booting of the SBS 2008 DVD

Can you get to an operating system Repair from this DVD.
I disabled reboot retry and now instead of rebooting I get the message "Directory services could not start because of the following error. A device attached to the system is not functioning"

The problem is I do not know the password to get into directory services restore mode.
