Outlook Proxy Settings with Basic Authentication

Outlook Proxy authentication Settings using Basic Authentication option.  I have several remote users that have company desktop computers located at their homes.  In order to make it simple for them I setup outlook connectivity without the need of first invoking a VPN connection.  This will allow them to quickly access their email without first remoting into their office computers.

Based on the above proxy settings, I presume the connection is encrypted even though Basic Authentication is selected.  I just want to make sure their password is not sent in plain text.  I am thinking not, but thought I'd double check.  We host our own Exchange 2010 Standard server as well.  Your feedback is appreciated.
