How to use a RAID 5 spare drive to replace a failed drive in an HP DL380 G3?

How to use a RAID 5 spare to replace a failed drive in an HP DL380 G3?

One of the 4 drives (ID 2) has failed. Do I use the Array Configuration Utility to use the spare in place of the failed drive? IF so, how do I do this within the ACU interface (ver. 8)

Or, do I remove the failed drive and placed the spare into it?

Sorry! - never had to deal with hot swapping failed raid drives before. Thanks!

*Please see scrn shot.

If there is a hot spare it should have used it automatically, if it is just a spare drive on the shelf then so long as you replace it hot it should start rebuilding without you using the ACU although you can use that to monitor it.

Do not turn the server off to replace the drive, it can cause problems.

Thanks, Andy - I'll try to upload the scrn shot tomorrow. Thought it had uploaded. I remember the ACU stating that I had a spare in my RAID 5 configuration, but I don't think it used it automatically. It's showing as unallocated. Should I physically remove the spare and pop it into the failed drive bay?
If it is unallocated rather than set as a hot spare then yes, just swap it into the bay with the failed disk.
