Exchange 2016 installation & user policy

Dear Experts,

My test environment is configured with Hyper -V and  AD is installed on  windows server 2012 R2.   I created another virtual server with C:\ drive as 250GB. Now I need to configure Exchange server 2016 on it. Please guide me how to create a separate drive i.e. D:\ drive. Also please provide me the link to configure Exchange server 2016 & keep D drive for logs & another settings. In my previous test environment C drive was always full because database & logs were configured on this drive.

My second question is regarding the policy in Exchange server 2016. I want all the users in an Accounting OU when they send mails to other users in the same OU or in the different OU's their managers should get a copy of each mails . Users shouldn't know about this policy.

Note:- I am new to Servers thats why having too much doubt.

Regards,

JCT

HI jct_777,
Please check this article to change your DB and log path to drive other than C drive.

Exchange won't operate on AD OU basis

U need to create accounting Distribution group and then configure transport rule to manage additional recipients

For test environment, really do not bother to install exchange on single drive, still if you want, you can use disk management under VM to shrink C drive and create new drive from shrinked space

Hi ,

My 1st part of the question is solved now.  created new exchange server with two drives.

Can you please help me in solving the 2nd part of the above question i.e.

a request from Managers  that they would like to get a copy of all Sent mails from a user without the user being alerted in any way.

Is there a way to do this without the User seeing forwarded Bcc messages in their "Sent Items" box?

REgards,

JCT
Please check this video to create a transport rule for thar particular user.

you need transport rule which configures as message sent from specific DL to all user DL or multiple DLs should sent one copy of message to sender's manager as BCC
User won't get notified about that
Note that sender should have manager field configured in AD with valid mailbox in order to work with this rule

Dear Mahesh,

I created a rule in the exchange server that when ever the user from this group sends mails the other person will receive a copy of it. This is working for me. But as per your last paragraph:-

Note that sender should have manager field configured in AD with valid mailbox in order to work with this rule. Can you please help me in configuring this . I think this is much easier then the rule i created.

without setting up transport rule, manager will not receive emails automatically

now go to ad user properties and go to organization \ manager field and populate it with user manager ID, this ID should have mailbox

Let me know if any confusion here

Hi Mahesh,

As per your above advice i have populated the manager field of  the user with their dept. manager details.  Now what I have to do next in the exchange server . Already I have created a rule before and specified that a copy of sent items will go automatically to this ID if mail is send by the users who is there in this distribution group.

Also do i need to create different rules for different dept. managers. If yes then I need to create many rules & it will be really difficult to manage.

Hi Mahesh,

I am confused now. I am not getting that option i.e. the BCC of email should go to senders manager. I have attached the pic for you.

You need to search option where it says send copy to sender manager and then it should give bcc option
