"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Does the baracuda have the ROOT CA certificate that was used to sign the ldap server?

That was part of the problem.  I installed IIS and certificate server, then bind 443.  On the barracuda I used port 636 rather than 389.  It appears to be working now.

636 is SSL from the start, 389 is either unencrypted, or the server (or client)  should require TLS upgrade.  And is then effectively the same.
