I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

So you have a very specific question. What are you looking for as a smoking gun to clean up your AD objects?

Querying AD with no perimeter will return all your AD users or AD computers.

You need some more detail in your questions.

Hi Ann,

You should look at this article by Shaun:

https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/30820/Active-Directory-Cleanup-Tool-ADCleanup.html

It might be exactly what you are after, or just a good place to start.

If you like it, post a 'thanks' on the article page and / or reference back here so that Shaun knows - it'll hopefully make him feel good :-)

Thanks,

Alan.

Hello Ann,

As I understand your question, you need a tool to help you make cleanup and not do the cleanup for you.
An old tool but still very useful: AD Explorer from SysInternals

What you can do with that may help you:
  - AD Advanced query
  - AD snapshot (for offline query)
  - AD snapshots comparison

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/adexplorer

Hope this will help
