Scanner will not connect to new windows 10 system

Hello, I have a new Dell window's 10 system I set it up and connected it to a small workgroup but the problem I am having is they have a Lanier printer/ scanner, I can connect to the printer but the scanner will not connect to the pc it can see it but something is blocking it from accessing it. I have turn off windows defender firewall and uninstall anti-virus software and still no luck.  Any suggestions or tools that I could use to determine why the scanner can't connect to it. Also, I went to another windows system in the office and did a search of the network in windows explorer and didn't see the computer but if I search for the pc by \\192.168.1.208\ it finds it and prompts me to enter a username and password.  I have turned on sharing on the system and properly set up the scans folder on the root and set up a scanner user with admin rights to the folder as I always do, I just can't think of what I am doing wrong, it not that hard to set up a shared folder and connect a scanner to it

Did you try adding scanner with IP and used signed driver for that scanner? That is an option that could solve things.

yeah, I did try to force the scanner to see it by using the IP address of the computer on the scanner to force it to see it and it does but I get a failed error check system firewall error. This is what made me believe it has to be something on the computer blocking it. And I did use the correct drivers with the printer setup

Well the problem could be  because driver is not digitally signed.

I downloaded the driver's from RICOH website and still getting this message....

Connection with the destination has failed. Check the settings. Enter path name might be incorrect, or firewall and security settings might be blocking network connectivity.

I get this message on the scanner as I setup a new address book entree and click browse network and see the computer name and click on it

I assume that means the printer is USB connected to the PC. In that case, as you find out,  you can print over the network. However, you will no be able to use that scanner over the network, only on the PC it is connected to.

If the printer (what model is it?) has a network i/f, use that to connect it. You will then be able to print and scan. Scanning will be direct from the scanner, printing can be either direct, or via a server/pc.
