SCCM 2012 Upgrade version seems to be incorrect

Hello - I currently in the process of upgrading our existing SCCM version. When I look at our current version, I see we have Version 5.00.8239.1000
Build number 8239. Now when I look at our 'Installed' updates, I see that CUM Update 3 for ConfigMgr SP2 and R2 SP1 5.0.8239.1403. This is confusing and I am not sure why SCCM lists an older version. Can someone help me figure out why my SCCM console has older version? How can I make sure I am updated correctly?

Thanks,

nimdatx

Hello Michael - Thanks for your help! When I log onto the System Center Configuration Manager it has the following version.

However, the version I see on the server update is the following:

Why are the two different?

Mike T: Great information and it helped a lot! You listed 4 things that need to update when updating Config Manager and I'd like to proceed with properly upgrading all other items. Can you provide a good articular on upgrading these steps? THANK YOU!
How do I find configconsole.setup on this CU3 update. I found within i386, however it's older version. Where can I find version from CU3? Now, I do see dist point has new console package, however from several sites it says not to install from admin UI, however to install form configconsole.exe.
Hi,

This is a good guide:
https://prajwaldesai.com/sccm-2012-r2-sp1-upgrade-guide/

CU3 will create an update package for you, updating the client component. For the console itself, the files are updated on the share (\\CMserver\SMS_Sitename) that I already mentioned but it creates a sub-directory CU3 under that if memory serves. I'm not sure what you mean "from configconsole.exe" as there is no such file as that. Use consolesetup.exe - it will check any pre-reqs for you.
