Domino to Office365 inbound mail route

Hello All,

We are planing the migration of On-premise Domino Server mail system to Office365. I would like to know that Is it possible to configure Smarthost in Domino Server to route mail to office365.
Assumption is when a email address is not in Domino local domain it should route to the Smarthost .

Plan is to keep the MX record Point to  On-premise Domino Server and create a secondary MX record of Office365. Then remove the user email address from domino and keep the mail box of old emails and create the same user in office365. When an email receives on Domino and if the address is not found,it route the message to the smarthost which is Ofiice365.

So that we can have a stage migration by picking up the users in a batch and slowly migrate to office365 for entire user without having a cutover migration.

If this is not possible how we can have a stage migration of Domino to office365

Hi,

The solution which you have mentioned above is a bit lengthy and time-consuming process.

The easiest procedure to migrate Domino Server mailbox to Office 365 is to use a third-party application such as SysTools Lotus Notes to Office 365 Migrator. Using this software, you can easily migrate Domino Server to Office 365.

Thanks for the response and suggestion on SysTools Lotus Notes to Office 365 Migrator. Surely we need to get some third party software for email conversion to Office365.

This is planned in the second phase, the First phase is to move the email flow from Domino to office365 on a stagged method.

Is to possible to have Domino and office365 to run parallel. Some batch of users email flow will be moved to office365 and with Systool migrate the emails of that user to office365. Like having multiple batches completely move the users and their mail to office365 and finally change the MX to office365 as primary.

Hello Sreekumar,

As far as your migration process is concerned, SysTools Lotus Notes to Office 365 Migrator will help you in it as it works on migration part only.

But, if you want to move email flow from Domino to Office 365 then you can contact a Lotus Domino administrator as he/she can provide you the best solution for it.

Thanks
