Use a medium soft artist's or similar brush, and brush out the Microphone holes. I have done this on my iPhone at the Apple Store and it does help.
be sure to dry it first - so the dust comes off easily
i say this because there can be saliva in the mike holes

Never put a pin, needle or similar device into a microphone. You will puncture the (tiny) membrane in it, destroying the microphone.

Artist or stationery store usually has these. Also look in a hardware store for a very fine brush. Move across the hole to get the dust out.

JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
There should be a series of holes at the bottom. That is where you said the dust was and that is where the microphone is on my phone.

Small hole, bottom, between charge connector and speaker.
