Can not access a folder on external drive

Is there any way I can salvage a bunch of movies off of an external Seagate drive?  The drive shows up under my PC and I can open it and see and access all content except for the folder that contains the movies, 530 GB worth.  When I attempt to open it, it momentarily opens up and it immediately goes away.  Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What happens if you try and copy them to a different folder or drive from the command line?

look in disk manager what happens with the drive when it goes away; or in event viewer
you can post screenshots for more info

you can run chkdsk on the drive; but iwould first make sure it operates fine

Found problem.  For some reason, after trying four (4) different cables, the last one worked perfectly.  I would have to say that this is a cable problem.  Never knew that cables could go bad on you.  Now, this is the second question that I have resolved on my own and I don't know how to award points.  Should I award them to myself?  Please let me know and thanks for your help.

Sometimes cables do go bad.  If that fixed the problem, then just please be kind and award the points to the person who was most helpful to you or contact one of the admins for Experts Exchange.  I am not an admin.
