"New Page After" a Page Header

Hello Experts,

I need to generate a separate page that prints out before each page in a report. I'm using Crystal Reports version 2013, and I was going to insert a new page header section, move it up so that it is the first page header section, and then on the paging tab in the Section Expert check New Page After, but I see that the options to select New Page Before or New Page After are grayed out on the Paging tab in the Section Expert for the Page Header section of the report. Is there any way to accomplish this?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,
New Page Before and New Page After options are not available for Page Header and Page Footer Sections.
Can you explain further on the data to be displayed? You can try inserting a dummy group and use it for creating new page. But, it depends on your requirement.
Is it feasible to attach report file with some sample data along with where you need a new page?

Since you need it before every page are you going to have anything in the page header?

A group header is probably the only option

You could group on the unique key for the data so there is only one group then use the option to display the group header on every page

Each page of the report prints out information for specific case numbers scheduled for court in our case management system. The defendant's name, SSN, DOB, case number, court date, court time, etc...is displayed in a page header section. The remaining information on the report is displayed in subsequent group sections. The report is used more like a form to document what happens with each case during court. I was trying to see if it was possible to add a cover sheet for each case (or page) in the report that would display a barcode and print out before each page. The cover sheet would need to print out first for scanning purposes.

I really needed to confirm that it is not possible to use the new page before or new page after options for page headers.

I've attached a PDF copy of the report to give you a better idea of what I'm trying to explain, but I will explore other options. Thank you for your time.

The specified information can be achieved using a dummy group.

Steps to get this are:

1. Create a formula with content whilereadingrecords; and use that to create a group and move that to make it as the first group.
2. Create a new section of this newly created group and move your information displayed in page header (DOB, SSN and other info) to this newly created section.
3. Click on group expert and navigate to Options and then again Options and select the checkbox against "Repeat Group Header On Each Page" to display the header info on each page.
4. Include your bar code data in group header 1 section 1.
5. In the section expert for Group Header 1, section 2, include a "New Page Before".

That should display the bar code in page 1 and then the remaining info should be on a new page.
Hope that helps.

Think about the page header.  If you could add NEW PAGE BEFORE then it would never print since it has to print at the top of each page but it would do another NEW PAGE and repeat.

Similarly for NEW PAGE AFTER it would print the page header then do a new page necessitating another page header and repeat.

Similarly the page footer.  NEW PAGE AFTER is redundant since it will do that automatically.  NEW PAGE BEFORE would like the Page Header issue the new page then try to print the PAGE FOOTER but it would require a new page

Add a group at the top on the SSN
Insert the bar code and any other information needed.
Set the NEW PAGE AFTER
