Apple ipadpro/Lenovo520 note taking

Dear experts,

In my city in India I have the LenovoYoga520Q6IN, 7i3/4/1/FHD/MS14/W10 laptop.

Now i am trying to compare the features/strengths and limitations of the above laptop with Ipadpro 12.9inch.

My  primary focus of this new purchase is purely note taking/saving/extracting parts of pdf document and copying it on word (or equivalent) and saving the files on the hard disk.

Kindly let me know your views/experiences.

If the PDF is editable (not all are editable), you can get Adobe Standard and copy parts of the PDF and paste into Word. That will work very well and I do some of this myself.

In my experience, working with documents is much easier with a mouse/touchpad on a laptop than it would be with dragging your finger around the screen on an iPad. I guess it all depends on the user, but iPads really weren't made for working with a lot of documents. You'd be much better off with a laptop or tablet PC than an iPad for that function.

In my personal opinion  editing PDF's (or even copying out of them) is more dificult on a tablet as you dont have a mouse so selection is harder.
As for note taking either works but would recomend a keyboard as it is quicker than using the onscreen keyboard. If your refering to taking notes as just recording audio then as long as you have a good mic either works also.

I do use a computer for this and agree that having a mouse is essential

All, thank you.

My question is on the flexibilty/ease of using a pen to take notes /solve math problems and save my work.

There are few apps like bamboo, notepad etc.

All those stylus based apps usually require some shortcuts, adjustments, and have a learning curve. Steve Jobs famously hated styluses of any kinds which is why he canned the Apple Newton handheld device, so their techs used it as the basis for what became the iPhone. I guess it all depends on personal preference, but if you're doing a bunch of high level math you might find the formatting limited and cumbersome if you're using a handwriting-to-text app versus pen and paper.

I use an iPad Pro 10.5 Inch and I can tell you the note taking experience is extremely smooth. Since the screen refresh rate on the iPad Pro is 120hz, there is very little latency when you are writing with the Apple Pencil. I say the writing experience is better than the Microsoft Surface.

I do most of my note-taking on Microsoft OneNote but Microsoft Word on work pretty good as well. Apple Pencil comes in handy when you are marking a document in Microsoft Word or Adobe Reader, you can easily add suggestions and signatures to a document. You can save any Word document as PDF on the iPad. To view a PDF file in Microsoft Word, follow the instructions here.

You might also enjoy the Split View feature on the iPad. With a screen size of  10.5 and 12.9 inches, you can view two applications at the same time. iOS 11 allows you to drag and drop documents and pictures across different applications. The default Files app also acts as a file manager, which allows you to save document locally and/or onto iCloud/Dropbox/OneDrive/Google Drive.

As a conclusion, iPad Pro is a really good choice when it comes to note-taking and word processing. I would recommend this product.
