Files can take a long time to open depending on environment.

Are you opening the document on a server from workstation?  Try opening the document locally on the workstation. That will be a lot faster.

If already local, try opening on a machine that has an SSD drive.

Hi Sherry,
In another one of your questions you said, "I don't have any Adobe Acrobat application". So, what software are using to open them, including the version/release? Regards, Joe

Yes, but there are an absolute ton of apps that can open PDF files and their performance could vary significantly.

Sherry,
very large in size
Exactly how large are they — number of pages? megabytes?

We find Adobe Acrobat opens large files easily, especially locally on the workstation.

A normal 20 page file is easy to open, so Sherry, please get a copy of Adobe and save yourself a lot of time.
