can't get or send emails unlwess I close and open the program.

MY outlook is not getting or sending messages unless I close and reopen the program. I see that you had a thread on this, but it appeared to be dealing with 365. I am not using 365 It is only loaded locally and Microsoft' cloud servers should not even be involved. Is there a work around for this?

Outlook has a Manual Send / Receive button. Normally top right. Find the Send / Receive Icon, click it and then:  Does Send / Receive start up as it should?  

Also check your Send Receive settings that all is enabled and set as it should be.

Further to John's excellent suggestion, please verify that this is also ticked in your copy of Outlook.

In Outlook, click FileOptionsAdvanced and then scroll down to Send/Recieve...

Make sure Send immediately when connected is ticked. Is it?
