cannot delete email in Outlook

Cannot delete an email in Outlook 216 (office 365)  I have been trying to delete and email but every time I do it locks up Outlook and I have to close it and reopen.  When I do the email is still there.  I logged into email online and the email message is not in the inbox like it shows up in Outlook on my computer.  Any ideas?

This sounds like a cache issue with outlook. you make have to recreate your outlook profile in order to clean up your cache.

RESOLUTION

Remove the existing Outlook profile

Close the Outlook client
Open the Control panel
Select Large icons from the View by: list
Select the Mail (32-bit) Icon
Click the Show Profiles... button in the Mail Setup - Outlook Window
Highlight the profile and click Remove
Click the Yes button in the Dialog Box
Click the OK button
Create new Outlook profile

Launch Outlook
When prompted for a profile name type Outlook or any desired name
Make sure the proper user name and email address is populated and click next
When prompted for credentials, type the current password
Click Finish
If prompted, shut down and restart Outlook

Remove the outlook profile and let it rebuild.
Close outlook, Go to control Panel> Mail, remove the profile...Apply, OK
Create a new profile, open outlook
