data insert during SQL 2016 AOG failover.

hi,

I am using tools, workload-drivers.zip , from this link: https://github.com/Microsoft/sql-server-samples/releases/tag/wide-world-importers-v1.0 to test SQL server 2016 AOG write operation.

I run the 'order-insert' and I see that this tools will keep writing to one of DB and I tried to do the SQL 2016 AOG failover while this application is inserting records, and what i found out is, the record will still be inserted JUST AFTER AOG failover done.

but it seems once it is done the insert (for records it is trying during failover), this application stopped to insert data, the connection string it use is:

Server= tcp:<SQL AOG listener>,1433;Database=<database name> ;Integrated Security=true;Column Encryption Setting=disabled;Max Pool Size=250;

So this mean this application can't keep the insert operation when it see AOG is failovering, any way to make such kinds of operation can detect AOG failover and keep inserting data once failover is done.

actually this the same related issue of my other post,

from SSMS, when I do a long select i see this error when failovering:

Msg 10054, Level 20, State 0, Line 14
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 。)

Are you sure you're using the Listener name instead of the Server name?

yes sir!

you are telling me you don't have it .

marrowyungSenior Technical architecture (Data)Author Commented:
I tried that using server local version of SSMS, it seems it is the SSMS version problem! but what I found out is sth else, the AOG failover will WAIT until the existing select query is finished, not that good, right?

Vitor MontalvãoMSSQL Senior EngineerCommented:
Not sure. Unfortunately I don't have any AOG available to perform tests.

do you think that behavour is normal ?

I don't have enough information to say if it's normal or not.

I am sorry, what should I give you to  make information complete?

if it keep waiting like this ! then in a very busy transaction system , it will wait forever.

Vitor MontalvãoMSSQL Senior EngineerCommented:
I mean, I don't have access to the system to perform the necessary troubleshooting.

By the way, Edwin Sarmiento (the guy that knows A LOT of AOG)  just posted this article recently. I think it will be very useful for you to read it and see if it helps you solving this issue.
