no internet connection under wi-fi usb internet adapter, server core 2016

Hello, and I hope you are having a great day...
This question is for Server core 2016......
I cannot access the internet....
Here is what I know with respect to hardware and drivers:
pnputil -e
published name:            oem0.inf
driver package provider:      tp-link technologies co., ltd
class:                        network adapters
driver date & version:            04/01/2016 1030.6.121.2015
Signer name:                  microsoft windows hardware compatibility publisher

Get-netadapter
name:                              wi-fi
interface description:                  tp-link wireless usb adapter
ifindex:                        3
status:                              not present
macaddress:                        nil, nothing showing
Linkspeed:                        0 bps
(the ethernet driver is fine, no issues to report here)

arp -a
added default gateway to arp table as a static ip address (192.168.1.254 and physical address)
hardware:
description:            tp-link 150mbps wireless n nano usb adapter
Model:                  TL-WN725N
status:                  it works fine under server 2016 desktop experience
additional info:            technically its a windows 10 usb adapter. The installation
ran under server core 2016, with out a hitch. It found the driver
and as far as I can tell, it should be working.
Please feel free to ask me as many questions as you like. There is also is no rush for this (i have until January 2019, to master it   ;-----]]]).
Thank you, Simon (administrator, rapidcomputers.co.uk)

Make sure the device has drivers for Server 2016 and is supported on Server 2016. If not, the device won't work.

I have been using these since Windows XP and am on my fifth USB adapter to work on Windows 10.

As John says, No drivers => No functional network => And no internet as consequence

Here are the drivers: https://www.tp-link.com/mx/download/TL-WN725N.html#Driver
WS2k16 works with W10 drivers.

Hi guys.....
Thank you for your reply (sorry for not getting back sooner)
I tried the drivers from your previouse email, and there was no comment to suggest that
the instalation had succedded. So, I tried a different set of drives. This looked quite
promising. After the installation the comment I had was...:driver is installed now you can connect your computer to a wi-fi network....
tried get-netadater, but the device was still showing as not present.
Please take your time if you need to, no rush (and its a test box to)
Thank you for any advice you can offer....
if all else fails guys, perhaps you could recommend a wireless adapter that will work with server core 2016?. for what its worth guys, the drivers do work under 2016 desktop experience....

thank you, Simon
You would need to look at other USB adapters (Amazon) and see if they have Server 2016 drivers. Likely not. I have not seen that.

Maybe use a wireless Hotspot with an Ethernet adapter on it and connect your server to that.
Hello, and I hope that you are all ok....?.

Working on an alternative solution for this question

Will let you know what the answer is when I have worked it out.

Thank you all for your input.

Feel free to close this question should you wish to.

Thanks again....., Simon
