Veeam jobs just in Stopping State for days.

Hi

Got 2 Veeam 9.5 backup jobs stopping on and Ive tried locating the VeeamAgent.exe but there are none. I followed the KB article where you stop and start services etc but this has not worked either.

Anybody come across this?

Windwos 2012, Veeam 9.5 Update 3.

Thanks

Hello,

Do you have veeam backup installed on windows server 2012?

previously the backup was running without problems ?, since when do you present the inconvenience?

What services and applications run on those servers?

Do the following:

- Validate the event viewer to see which veeam events appear.
- Restart the server.
- Restart the veeam backup service.
- Run the backup again.

Optional: Create a test server and try to backup. To rule out that the problem is not in the two servers you want to backup.

Regards...
Have you watched the backup process via vCenter Server?

Does it leave your VM running on a snapshot or does it clear the snapshot?

ASKER

I cannot see any snapshots on the vCentre, Ive checked event log on the vCentre for that particular server and thel as time veeam connected was on the 11th which is when I upgraded the Veeam client.

I went into the Snapshot manager and ther is no snapshot whatsoever.

These two jobs are stopping my genuine jobs from running since the backup box is only a small 4vcpu and 12gb of memory on Windows 2012
When these jobs start or stop do you see a snapshot be created? At start of job?

Do you get a backup although job never stops?
Update, ok I noticed I was looking at the wrong server. I have located a veeam snapshot in the snapshot manager and its states do not delete.

I have a look at the various jobs in Veeeam and they are all reporting the same error when they try and run.Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: Failed to obtain resource availability

So when I do run any of the jobs (including cloud backups) they all report the same error.

Ive just kicked off a local backup to check if a snapshot is created and I can confirm it doesnt. The Veeam process "Waiting for backup infrastructure resources availability" sits in the activity list and then times out with the earlier error.
I only have 4 guest on the vCentre and they are all affected by the same issue when backing up via Veeam.
Its it worth totally uninstalling Veeam and reinstalling? Will uninstalling also remove the SQL instance?

It did work when the version was 8 but I upgrade to 9.5 because my backup to cloud was failing. Cant hurt to unistall everything and start again.
getting this when trying to instal 9.5??

---------------------------
Veeam Backup & Replication Setup

Unable to use database VeeamBackup, because it was created with a later version of Veeam Backup and Replication.

OK

Is there a way I can get around this?
Nothing left in the add remove program with Veeam and Ive restarted. Found this article thou

https://www.veeam.com/kb1845
Seems to be moving on with the install now Ive carried out the instructions from the kb article.
Ok first backup is running and 11% through entire process - looks like its working again.
Got throught the first backup and had this warning.

Production datastore datastore1 is getting low on free space (312.8 GB left), and may run out of free disk space completely due to open snapshots.

Is there a way can get rid of the open snapshots?
No increase datastore

Check VMs for any snapshots
Hello,

you can increase that datastore, to get more capacity.

also validates that the datastore does not have snapshots.

If you have snapshots, create a folder outside the datastore and try to move them to that newly created folder.

regards..
A very bad idea had been posted in moving snapshot files snapshots need to be in the same folder as the parent virtual machine disk UNLESS you have configured a location datastore for working snapshots

If you randomly move snapshots as posted your VM will fail!
Ok gone off topic here so will open another thread about snapshots. The removal and reninstall of the Veeam software has recitified the original post so awarding point to Andrew and closing thread - thanks to all that contributed.
Thank you Andrew
