Magenta ink smudges showing up on edges of pages printed with HP Color LaserJet

User has a  HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277c6
Whenever they print documents, it appears that some of the magenta toner has been linking out and showing up on the edges of the printed pages
I've had them print some blank pages, but the toner persists.
How to get rid of these toner marks?  Thanks.

Do NOT use any cleaning sprays. The only thing you should use is isopropyl alcohol.

However, if the streaks do not disappear by themselves after printing a few pages, that means the leakage is continuous. The most likely culprit is the drum. Unlike many other colour lasers, in you printer the drum is part of the toner cartridge. One way to check it is by measuring the distance between the marks. Divide that by pi (3,14) and you will get the diameter of the roller that is causing the problem. In your case it should be the diameter of the drum. If the measurement tallies, the first step would be to try cleaning the drum with isopropyl alcohol. You'll probably see some mark on the drum as you rotate it. If cleaning does not fix it, replace the magenta cartridge.

Note that drum is light sensitive, so d no keep it out in the open for more than a couple of minutes.

Are you using genuine HP cartridges?

The solution for this (in my experience) is to get a local printer repair person to clean and service the printer

That is what we do at our clients

Can I take a can of cleaning spray?  Are there simple cleaning instructions posted anywhere?

I would not use cleaning spray inside a printer as that could worsen the problem. Rollers must be cleaned and possibly the fuser replaced
