Will recreating the mail box for a user in exchnage 2007 keep calender appointments.

Hi

We have an exchange 2007 and outlook 2013 and I have a user called John Smith and no one is able to send a meeting request to this user. When users  send a meeting request to this user, they get a message Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution list.
I had posted this in the forums and I was suggested to recreate the mail box. So I am going to do the following.
To recreate the mailbox,
1) Log into John Smith outlook and export the user’s mailbox as PST.
2) Delete the problem mail box in the exchange server.
3) Create a new mailbox for the user on exchange.
4) Log in as John Smith into a workstation and Open outlook and import the PST into the outlook.

Also I was told the user has lot of calendar appointments and if I recreate the mail box in the following method, will all the calendar appointments appear when I import the old PST.

Any help and suggestions would be great.
Thanks

HI Lianne,

Yes after you import pst files, you should have all emails, calendar's meeting.

The steps are the correct. Export PST, recreate mailbox and import PST. The only question, you want to create new mailbox and new AD user? If you want to use the same ad user. You need to disable the mailbox and after enable mailbox.

Bit confused here

I want to use the same user ID jsmith

So  is it better to export up the OLD PST ,delete old user id jsmith, delete the old mailbox in exchange.

Recreate the same user user ID jsmith again on AD and create a new mail box on exchange.

And import the PST to Jsmith mail box ?

Hi Lianne,

You have two option: recreate mailbox only but using the same AD account. In this case you need to disable the mailbox, create new mailbox using the AD account.

Or you can create new mailbox and new AD user.

I think in your case, it is the first option. Export old pst files, disable mailbox, create new mailbox using AD account, import PST files.
