disaster recovery and business continuity

Dear Experts

We have to setup  an application server which is web-based (LAMP stack) for which we are planning to procure the server with 10TB disk and with vmware hypervisor , the application  server will be running on VM, it is very much important for us to setup a disaster recovery and business continuity for example if server crashes or due to physical damage at head office (primary site)  goes down then  the  server at recovery site to ensure business continuity.
we have 2 branch offices one connected with mpls vpn to the head office where this new server going to be setup and another office is having leased line connectivity. please suggest on the following and which is the best one recommended you can add other plans please
1. while purchasing the dell server is there software  if purchased and as well procure same identical config one more server and host it in the branch office, hence 2 servers of identical configurations and the software will mirror the volume and data - if primary site goes down the recovery site comes to live for the business continuity

2. OR should we have to look for automatic vm backup with veeam and this can be configured replicate from the primary site to the recovery site

please suggest thanks in advance.

VMware replication included with VMware vSphere Essential Plus would be able to replicate this VM to another Host on another site

Thank you very much for the reply
1.  the application server running on VM in primary site will be replicated to the another Host on recovery site host , think this can be possible with mpls vpn or leased line connectivity between hub (primary site) and  recovery site.
2 . can you please let me know in this case should we have to procure 2 identical server and Vmware essential plus for both the servers,
please help with pre-requisite to achieve this. thanks.

You do not need identical hosts just a host with enough resources to host the VM

And make sure all hosts are on the HCL

thanks Andrew, but to implement disaster recovery does it require the storage device as we only have VM's and server disk space it enough for our operations for next 5 years, please suggest can we implement the disaster recovery ( primary site and recovery site ) with only two servers and both with VMware hypervisor installed, can we avoid storage device please suggest .

No need for shared storage on either host you can replicate from primary to secondary

thank you so much , following are my understanding
1. two server hardware with both have vmware essential plus license
2. install VM in primary server at head office
3. establish the secure mpls vpn OR leased line connectivity between 2 sites - can you please suggest what bandwidth to go for to start with. if mpls and if leased line circuit.
4. host the server hardware installed with vmware
please suggest me is the above correct also request to help me on how to document what all to be done at primary site server and what all to be done at recovery site, thanks in advance.

Minimum 1MB you can self seed if low bandwidth and then just replicate changed
