I am in the process of setting up proper SPF and DKIM records and have a question. We are currently use the domain mycompany.com and have also created the subdomain shop.mycompany.com. Using a CNAME record, the subdomain, shop.mycompany.com, is pointed to our ecommerce store hosted with BigCommerce. The transnational email messages, such as order confirmations, are sent from Big Commerce's servers. However, BigCommerce is set up to have those transnational emails appear as if they are coming from info@mycompany.com.
I am assuming that I need to have the DNS spf record on my web host for the domain mycompany.com include the BigCommerce mail server(s). Is this correct?
When logging into BigCommerce, our server settings also have some DNS records, including an spf record which is set as:
Type - txt
Fully Quallified Host - shop.mycompany.com
Value - "v=spf1 +a +mx include:_spf.bigcommerce.com -all"
I am assuming that since I am not sending any email out under the shop.mycomapny.com domain that I do not need to do anything to the spf record with BigCommerce. Is this correct?
