How to open pdf files with adobe reader in sharepoint online

I am using chrome and pdf files is always open with chrome.

Who is Participating?

Sam Simon NasserIT Support ProfessionalCommented:
this is because chrome has built-in pdf viewer. you should save the file, and then open it from there. even firefox or edge has their own built-in pdf viewer. and this is to eliminate the need of other 3rd party pdf tools like acrobat.

Is there a way to open directly from the website?  Save, editor, upload it is too many steps for a end user to edit a pdf.

as far as i know, NO! because browser built-in or acrobat reader is for READING pdf files. if you want to edit them, you need a professional version that allows you to edit or modify, which is not found in the browsers.

there is another alternative, which is disabling the chrome pdf viewer, but in this case, you will be forced to download the pdf file and the reupload it!
go to settings, search for content, click on contents, and then click on pdf documents
