Outlook displays wrong info when typing in an email address

When typing an email address in Outlook 2016 the email name will be wrong or it will put in an extra name ie: "johns;johns@email.com".  Any idea how to fix this?

I don't think Outlook 2016 uses an autocomplete file anymore. What I did discover was that if you start typing in the address and a list of suggestion comes up, there should be an "X" at the end of each suggestion. Rather than delete the whole list, you can click that X to delete that suggestion.

Check the AD account for Full Name, Display Name, First Name, Last Name.

Is there only one name in the list when you begin to type?  If only one name, consider deleting and re-creating the Autocomplete setting in Outlook Options.

If more than one name and zero chance of confusion by the user, also re-create Autocomplete.

Then if similar names, make sure the user is picking the correct name.

Yes you can do the above.  But Outlook still has Autocomplete via the Stream Autocomplete .DAT files.

What John says is correct. If deleting the individual suggestion isn't possible, clear the whole list as above.
