Open WAB files without Outlook in Windows 10
How to open WAB files without Outlook Express in Windows 10?
Which Email application you are using in Windows 10? Are you using MS Outlook?
That's the problem. I bought Windows Home & Student -- not knowing that the WAB files I've built for years on Windows XP would not open fully. None of the folders display. When I open the files I see all the WAB back-ups I cross-loaded via a thumb drive but if I click on the most recently saved backup I see all the separate addresses (with many dupes) but none of the folders I've created over time and none of the notes I've made for each contact within each folder.
If I click on one of the backup files the computer wants to 'import windows address book contacts' -- which I've down many times, to no avail.
Do not think there is a program that will open my WAD folders and contacts on Windows 10/Home & Student. If I could find software online that would open the files, I would use it.
Thanks, in advance for yo
ur help.

Trying to use Windows Contacts. Rick
If you click on https://web.archive.org/web/20161122042555/http://g.live.com/1rewlive5-all/en/wlsetup-all.exe and wait a little (30 secs) it will download an archived version of windows live essentials. That suite of programs includes windows live mail, which can import .wab files.
Please note that windows live mail is now a retired product and should not be used as mail client any longer.

Thank you, McKnife. Windows Essential 2012 almost worked -- but I could not import my contacts. Rick

Live Mail in Windows Essentials 2012 did not open. Don't know why.
I am admitting my ignorance-- When I was running Windows XP, my WAB contact files operated properly. Don't really know what program it was using to do so. Rick

Actually, Live Mail opens -- Just no option to import files. Rick
Thanks. I've tried this and it did not work. Best, Rick
What happened when you tried?
Rick, can you imagine that it is pretty frustrating for people offering help to see askers simply abandon the threads without feedback?
You are that close to a solution.

Chris, you could distribute points evenly.
Hi Dear,
Please close the question as you want. I have not any issues with that.

For reasons of fairness, pointing will be adjusted.
All are possible solutions (some of them free). Since WLM would wourk normally, it could be that the file is simply damaged.
