over all architecture of MS SQL big data and data scientist solution.

hi,

for big data and data science solution of MS SQL, how many piece of puzzle we need? I know MS SQL has R service/server included in the MS SQL installation, I don't think only one server can do the job, what is the full picture?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can't make a question like this without providing more information. What's the scale you're talking about? What's the server specifications?
It's to be used only by R language or others as well (e.g. Python)?

I'm not really sure what you're looking for but if you're looking to use SQL Server then MSSQL 2017 is the solution that you want.
As far as I know, SQL Azure doesn't support yet Python or R Services.

then the local installation will do . but what I am wondering is, it seems Big data ONLY support in Azure , but AI support in local installation, is it making any sense ?

so MS want you to pay for both local installation and cloud ?

so local installation can't support big data ?

To be honest I don't know much what the Cloud is offering today because I've been working only for big banks where the quantity of information and the power of processing those information aren't yet available in any Cloud solution.
