Win7 EXT HD shutdown causes Event IDs 7000,7009, 10005

I was having a little trouble with one of my ext HDs (it shut itself off twice recently) and to do some trouble shooting to find out if the problem was overheating, I started to shut down my two EXT HDs at night after I'd shutdown the PC. At startup the next few morning I got Event ID 10005, 7009, 7000 in that order each time. Clearly windows search is involved.  The first error in the sequence reads: "DCOM got error "1053" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{7D096C5F-AC08-4F1F-BEB7-5C22C517CE39}" The others are "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Windows Search service to connect" and "The Windows Search service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." I'm guessing it's something in my shutdown sequence: PC shutdown first, then power switched off on EXT HDs. Yes, the search service still runs after the error and is set to delayed start. Yes, I rebuilt the search index. No soap.

Who makes the external Hard Drive?  Get from them the hard drive test application and test the hard drive for errors.

Glyph and G-Tech and neither has test software for the end user.
Look through the list here for generic test routines

Of this list, try HDDSCAN which is for any hardware.  Scan both drives.
Will do.
Drive hardware tests find no problems or errors. So in terms of hardware, it could have been some power cut - sometimes when the power goes out for a second, the PC stays running but the Ext drives might turn off. Or, as I suggested, perhaps these drives need to be turned off at night with PC. And, again as I suspected, the problem is in the sequence of turning off PC and Ext HDs.  I changed my shutdown order -- now it's PC shutdown, then turn off HDs, and at startup up it's turn on HDs first, wait a few seconds, then turn on PC. Now I'm getting 3036 gatherer warnings and 36888 Schannel errors in admin events. This may, OR may not, be related to my ext HDs turn-on/off routines. Will do more testing.

Getting 1014 and 7043 errors and warnings now. I really don't think it's the drives. Actually all I wanted with them was the best shutdown sequence, which turns out to be shutdown PC, turn off drives, then to boot up power up drives first, then start computer. At all events I will submit another questions about the errors. Thx.
Thanks for the update
