Etherchannel Pagp and LACP
Etherchannel Pagp and LACP
when configuring Etherchannel, we have the following options:
active Enable LACP unconditionally
auto Enable PAgP only if a PAgP device is detected
desirable Enable PAgP unconditionally
on Enable Etherchannel only
passive Enable LACP only if a LACP device is detected
the one option that I do not understand is the "ON" option, whether it is is used for Pagp or LACP or for Both.
Thank you

ON - is for neither. ON - means that there is no control protocol present (PAgP or LACP), interfaces will just be bundled into etherchannel. Since there is no control protocol, there is a risk of creating loop, so ON should be avoided if both sides support PAgP or LACP.

So what is the purpose of having the option "ON " ?
