Checking if Exchange 2010 was from 2003 or 2007

Documenting an Exchange 2010 environment is there an easy way to check whether it was upgraded from Exchange 2003 or 2007

Staff werent here at time, they have no Edge Transport Server Role so I suspect its from 2003

Looking for way to check and verify if possible

Exchange isn't upgraded but new installations are always required. Just because there is no Edge Transport server role doesn't indicate that 2003 was in the environment. I'm willing to bet most companies don't use the Edge role but other 3rd party options for mail filtering just because it works better.

There is really no way to say if 2003 or 2007 existed in the environment if the removed them properly, unless there may be remnants in ADSIedit but you will have to check, but if you don't see anything don't think the Edge not being present indicates anything. I have never once installed the Edge role on any deployments.

One does not upgrade Exchange, it is migrated.

Thanks yeah they use Barracuda and Ironport here, just looking to check

Point taken on migration as well :) Thanks :)
Do this, open public folder and check for this folder, Internet Newsgroups. If it is present, you are migrated from 2003. Done. Let me know, if more query.
Thanks have checked Public Folders and there is a folder called Internet NewsGroups, can you let me know why this is the case, any links for it?Thanks :)
