Can the user open up the Activity Monitor app on their computer and leave it running in the background.

When the CPU hits MAX they can take a screenshot of the top processes .. as there could be a rogue process at issue here.

the person was able to isolate that it was outlook that was maxing out the CPU
Is Outlook still maxing out the CPU?  Did you fix it?
Eoin OSullivanConsultantCommented:
If its still an issue, report back and we can maybe advise on further steps.  Outlook 2016 on OSX is a bit of a beast of a mail client.

You could check and see if the user has a LARGE mailbox or multiple accounts setup or a very frequent SYNC process setup etc.

The Console App on OSX will have all the logs from the system and apps and you might find a cause/clue as to the issue if you analyse the results from the time when the CPU max-out occurs.
