I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This could be caused by a failure to resolve the Edge Transport server name xxx.domain.comin DNS,

I am getting this error for 1 server

I want you to try to ping the FQDN of the Edge transport server from the HubTransportserver
Example from your hub transport server bring up a command prompt and ping EdgeTransportservername xxx.domain.com

If it fails you need to add the fully qualified domain name of the EdgeTransportserver to your DNS or

you can add the fqdn and ip  of the edgetransport server to the host file of your hub transport server

ref:  Finally got it to work. I had to go into c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder and open up the hosts file. In the hosts file I added the IP address and FQDN of my Edge Server. Then I was able to start the Edge Synchronization with no problems. After the Synchronization started I restarted the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service, and made sure the Microsoft Exchange Edge Sync and Transport Service were restarted on the Hub Server, then restarted the Microsoft Exchange ADAM Service on the Edge Server, I also made sure the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service was started on the Edge. Everything now works wonderfully.

Thanks,

David Kellett
