Adobe Acrobat DC 2015 Crashing

Issues with Adobe Acrobat DC 2015 version on Windows 10 Education.

Problem: When installing a brand new install of Adobe Acrobat the program will launch for just a moment and then immediately crash upon launching. I get no error just that the application force closes on itself.

Going into the event viewer I see the following error:

Faulting application name: Acrobat.exe, version: 15.6.30306.25331, time stamp: 0x58dbf189

I have receached out to Adobe Acrobat on the forums but unfortunately still haven't been provided a solution that works. If you would like to see that thread you can find it here: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2483545

Any advice / troubleshooting would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The usual steps are:

-try as another user
-see if there are updates for windows and acrobat that you haven't installed, yet

The Five Tenets of the Most Secure Backup

Data loss can hit a business in any number of ways. In reality, companies should expect to lose data at some point. The challenge is having a plan to recover from such an event.

Hello McKnife, the install link you gave me did work! It found the program and went through the installation process. I did run into an error however. See below:

Error 28000.Installation of Acrobat Licensing Module has failed. For potential workarounds to this problem please refer to....

And it has a web link I'm going to go to and see what their suggestions are for that.

Before you do that: Does Acrobat work for another user?

DaddychopAuthor Commented:
Yes it does work for another user. So what does that mean exactly? And what should be my next steps in resolving this issue?

McKnifeCommented:
Then your user profile or portions of it are corrupted. Maybe they can be removed. In regedit you can try to rename (not delete!) HKCU\Software\Adobe and afterwards start Acrobat again.

Okay I went ahead and renamed it to Adobe1 and then tried to start Adobe again but got the same issue.

Side note: I do really appreciate all your troubleshooting steps you've been giving me!

Are you experienced with user profile migration?

McKnifeCommented:
I am asking because that would help: backup your data and settings and create a new user profile for you and restore data and settings.

Hello McKnife! I'm afraid I haven't had much experience in user profile migration! Got a guide for me to read up on so I can learn about that? Thank you again for following up!

Deleting my profile from scratch and just creating a new one helped resolved the issue.

You can simply backup your data, take your key programs and export their settings (that is, if they offer an export/import function) and then delete and recreate your profile and import settings and restore data. If the programs offer no export/import, you need to find out where they save their settings. that could be .ini files, registry keys or even cloud based.
