trouble SAN DISC USB Flash drive not appearing in Finder

CAn someone give me the troubleshooting steps to get a SAN DISC USB Flash drive to work. Here are the steps.

I have MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2016
I have a SanDisc USB Flash memory.
Plug it into a USB - USB-C adapter.

Anyway, when I open Finder it's not recognizing the chip.

So. I tried to close all applications and restarted the computer. Still nothing.

Very frustrating. Anything you recommend I do?

try another computer i.e. a windows computer as it may be formatted as NTFS which Apples cannot natively read.. or boot from a linux distro and see if you can see the disk.. if you can't then it is probably damaged beyond simple repair

well, this particular USB drive has been used in this Mac before. i don't think that's the prob.

it could simply become defective. using a linux distro will eliminate any OS problems.

Thanks. I tried a few other USB memory chips and they work fine. I guess it's a defective chip.
