5 Year Old Dell Laptop unable to see WiFi 5G networks.

The user is unable to see 5G Wifi networks on their Dell Laptop.
It's a Dell Latitude 6430U - Windows 7 Pro
I checked, and the latest WiFi driver for this model is installed.

Device Manager General Tab says:   Dell Wireless  1504  802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz)
Drive Tab adds  Driver Date of 12/13/2013,  Driver Version  6.30.223.215

The computer is 5 years old - is it possible that there was no support for 5G at that time?

Thanks.

The card is b/g/n

You need an AC card for that speed.

I have an AC card in my 16-month old laptop.

So likely you need a new computer with faster internals.

My 5-year old spare laptop will only do n speed

The half-height card you have as the driver notes, it is only capable of connecting to a 2.4 GHZ

You could look at whether there is a newer half-height internal card that firs and supports the newer standards including 5Ghz.....

That might work but five year old engineering may not be helped much by the speed

Yeah you have 2 options, you don't see 5 GHZ because your hardware is old so you have 2 options, get a new computer or update the hardware :)
