asked on

exporting mailbox

Hi There,

Can someone show me how to export mailbox from exchange 2010. I have a user that left the organization and I need to archive his mailbox , when I do export does that mean the mailbox will not be taken off from the server because that what I want to do.

Thanks,

Do you want to remove the mailbox from the server or do you want to keep the mailbox on the server. I couldn't really understand your statement about that part.

I want to export and remove the mailbox both at once
You will need to perform the export first, and you can do that with the cmdlet i gave you in the my original reply.

Do you want to remove the mailbox and delete the user object also, or remove the mailbox and disable the user object?

This will remove the mailbox and disable the user object in AD
Disable-Mailbox "user name"

This will remove the mailbox and delete the user object in AD
Remove-Mailbox "user name"

You can export mailbox from exchange 2010 to PST by using Stellar EDB to PST Converter. The software allows to export mailboxes to Office 365 as well. You can download the software from here: https://www.stellarinfo.com/email-repair/edb-pst-converter.php
Well, seems like Shoviv has some great features to manage the job automatically.
