Excel formula not working do to cell format

I have an Excel workbook. I am using a lot of columns and entering formulas. On cell H16 I entered a formula =F2. The result I see in cell H16 is "=F2" instead of the value that is on cell F2. Do you know how I can fix this so I can copy the formula across the same row?  Currently the format of cell H16 is Text.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Set format of H16 to General, then edit the formula (i.e. remove the = sign and re-add it); formula should work.

Copy to other cells and the formatting and formula should go with the paste to other cells.

Your method worked. I just need to remember to do this again on cell H16 if I enter a new formula.
