I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Exchange 2010 mailbox has a 2GB limit by default. On the Exchange server launch the Exchange Management Console then expand Organization Configuration, then click on "Mailbox". Right click on your Database, and click on Properties, then the Limits tab.  This will show you the current limit and you can make adjustments accordingly.

You can change the size limit as shown here:

You should have them clean up their mailbox or archive old emails.  Figure out a reasonable maximum limit for your Exchange environment.  If they can't manage their mailbox at 2GB then they won't manage their mailbox when given 10GB.  That's what I tell my users when they have problem with the set limit we impose on their mailbox.

Remember increasing the limit may have ripple effects to other tasks as well.  For example, you may need bigger backup store, and backup time may take longer, etc.
