How do I manipulate/arrange text boxes effectively in PowerPoint

I struggle to arrange text boxes properly in PowerPoint, and I can't seem to find solutions on the web.  For example, why can't I move the bottom of the text box highlighted in the attached Word File, and in the attached PowerPoint slide, up further? Can someone point me to the solution or an article that explains how to effectively manage text boxes in PowerPoint?

I'm not sure what the problem is. I can move the "bottom" (i.e. the lower border) of the text box up, losing aspect ratio.
Also, page margins can be reduces (Layout menu, Margins, Narrow) thus raising the textbox in the page.
If the above does not help, please elaborate your question.

You can't move the bottom of the object in PowerPoint because it's not a text box but a table. The content-sensitive tab gives it away:

text box is actually a table
To remove that space at the bottom, place your cursor in that row, click Layout in the Table Tools tab set, then click the arrow beneath the Delete split button and then Delete Rows.
