Windows 10 license from Parallels to Bootcamp

Hi - My client is running Windows 10 Home in Parallels on his macbook pro. He's complaining that its sluggish so i am going to switch him to Bootcamp.
The bit i am unsure of is the Windows 10 license. Will it still let me activate in Bootcamp? Presumably the details MS needs to authenticate a license will be the same on Parallels VM running Windows as the newly created Windows 10 install? It's the same mac afterall.
Should i try to extract the license key beforehand if i can?

Thanks
D

You would have to try . The change in machine "hardware" is significant.

You are still using one license, and you can retrieve this with Recover Keys.

Recover the license, build the physical machine and if it won't activate itself, give it the license key

Depends on how you're currently activated.  If you are using "digital entitlement" based on hardware signatures then you'll probably have to explain to an MS advisor has the parallels and bootcamp signatures are different. Your best bet is the associate this install with a unique Microsoft account and then you'll get the parallels install derigistered and the bootcamp install activated to replace it.

Hi Martin - i did. But in my experience Bootcamp harnesses more of the mac's hardware so i am keen to go down that road.

That's because Boot camp is built into the operating system, but the biggest disadvantage of Boot Camp is that every time you want to switch between operating systems, you need to reboot your computer.
