Unitech AS10 Handheld Contact Scanner not recognized

I got a Unitech AS10  Handheld Contact Scanner:

When I plug it in to my MacBook Pro, I get an error that "keyboard not identified" and I see this message:

I think I may have figured it out. I think to resolve this issue, you need to do a PRAM reset. Below is a link with all the information you will need :)
