Step By Step Guide to Migrate an old Active Directory (Windows Server 2003) to a Windows Server 2016 Server ?

Hello expert,

I need to migrate Active Directory from an old Windows 2003 server to a brand new Windows 2016 server. Do you please have a step by step guide or a tool that can help me to do it?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Setup an intermediary 2008 R2.
Migrate AD roles (https://www.petri.com/transferring_fsmo_roles) to 2008 r2.
Demote 2003 server
Raise the Forest and Domain functional levels from 2003 to 2008 r2
Then deploy the new 2016 server
Migrate AD roles (https://www.petri.com/transferring_fsmo_roles) to 2016
Demote 2008r2 server
Then do the migrations of the files and shares

As Jose, you need either 2008 of various version or 2012 as the intermediate.
Virtual machine ........

Your 2003 ad shoukd in domain/forest 2003 raise if not already.

The intermediary need to exist for a short time frame to demote the 2003 from DC to member server (using DCpromo)
The shares will not be impacted, but you have to make sure services/roles the current system has are transitioned, DNS, DHCP, .......
